Activating Public Spaces

SEEC understands the sense of vitality walking down a buzzy Main Street but, public places and parks became critical for maintaining the well-being of residents during the COVID-19 global pandemic. Perhaps, a pandemic was the spark needed to power-up the Schoharie County Digital Revolution.

While Schoharie County is on course to provide 100% high-speed fiber broadband access by December 2026, and reports 94% coverage today, wireless gaps still exist. SEEC proactively secured funding to implement FREE public WiFi in three different Villages to activate public spaces.

Live, work and play on these WiFi powered Main Streets:

Village of Schoharie, FREE Fountain WiFi installed, 2023. Enjoy the variety of eateries on the Main Street that also claims location to the first-ever outdoor talkie-movie!

Village of Middleburgh, FREE Art Park WiFi to be completed December 2024.  Take a seat on one of the “smart benches” as you enjoy the locally produced art displays or listen to a concert on the green of Middleburgh Central School, ranked one of the top 10 schools of the Capital District.

Village of Sharon Springs, FREE Spa District Public WiFi to be installed 2025. A New York Forward initiative to complement millions of new public-private investments that upgraded Village infrastructure, will dramatically enhance Chalybeate Park a mineral fountain host to seasonal festivals and supplement proposed international resort developments.
