2025 UAlbany Tech Roadshow coming to 287 Main
Highlighting Breakthrough Technologies in Energy and Utilities
Schoharie, NY (June 14, 2025) – The Schoharie Economic Enterprise Corporation (SEEC) and the University at Albany’s Office of Economic Development, Entrepreneurship, and Industry Partnerships (OEDEIP), are kicking off a yearlong initiative to bring breakthrough technologies out of university labs and incubators and into the community with the 2025 UAlbany Tech Roadshow. Join SEEC for an exciting event on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM at 287 Main Street, Schoharie, where UAlbany researchers and startup founders will showcase innovative, cutting-edge technologies in energy, utilities, disaster preparedness, and more.
Explore how public and private sector partners can collaborate to test, use, or license these emerging technologies across the Capital Region through immersive Virtual Reality experiences and interactive exhibits that offer a firsthand look at innovations ready for real-world applications.
“I’m thrilled to bring UAlbany’s emerging technologies on the road,” said Brett Orzechowski, Assistant Director at the Office of Economic Development, Entrepreneurship, and Industry Partnerships. “The opportunity to collaborate with SEEC was sparked back in February at the NYS Economic Development Council Conference, where I first met Julie following her panel on broadband. It was clear right away that SEEC shares an appreciation for the role technology can play in shaping the future economy.”
Featured technologies include:
All Hazards Preparedness Game: This immersive Virtual Reality training platform is designed to enhance disaster readiness, particularly among vulnerable populations. Simulating events such as wildfires, hurricanes, and pandemics, it serves as a valuable tool for emergency response training and workforce development in public safety and crisis management.
Zero Energy Operating System (ZEOS): Developed by ReWire Group, the Zero Energy Operating System is a robust Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform that enables buildings and facilities to monitor and manage energy consumption, comply with regulatory standards, and integrate seamlessly with the electrical grid. Think of it as a “virtual energy manager” for property owners without in-house energy expertise.
TR-CO₂ Heat Pump System: This high-efficiency, modular heat pump leverages transcritical CO₂ technology to provide space heating, cooling, and hot water through a single, all-electric unit. Designed for retrofitting multifamily buildings, it delivers a sustainable alternative to traditional HVAC systems with a low global warming footprint.
Adsorption-Regeneration Water Treatment Reactor (ARTWR): A breakthrough solution for water purification, this reactor system simultaneously removes chemical contaminants and regenerates its own adsorbent media. The technology addresses growing needs for efficient, reusable water treatment methods.
Cloud-based Hybrid RF-Optical Network Over Synchronous links (CHRONOS): A cutting-edge cloud-based network architecture that combines RF and optical (LiFi) technologies to support demanding applications such as VR, telesurgery, Industrial IoT, and 3D video. CHRONOS enables faster, safer, and more secure data transmission for the next generation of connectivity.
Professionals and decision-makers across the following industries are encouraged to attend: Commercial Real Estate, Industrial & Manufacturing, Education, Healthcare, Local Government, Hospitality & Retail, Utilities, Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals & Biotech, Semiconductors & Electronics, Industrial Wastewater Treatment, Food & Beverage Processing, Environmental Remediation & Engineering, Network Equipment Manufacturing, Defense & Aerospace, Telecommunications, Media & Broadcast Technology, Cloud Infrastructure, Emergency Management, Insurance & Risk Management, Fire Departments, and EMS.
